شرح قاعدة الأفعال الناقصة (Modal verbs):
Grammar – Modal verbs
- We should take part in the competition.
يجب أن نشارك في المسابقة. - We shouldn’t throw away plastic bottles.
لا يجب أن نرمي الزجاجات البلاستيكية. - We must close doors.
يجب أن نغلق الأبواب. - We mustn’t waste water.
لا يجب أن نهدر الماء. - We need to switch off the lights when we leave a room.
يجب أن نطفئ الأضواء عندما نغادر الغرفة. - We needn’t put our ideas in the newsletter.
ليس من الضروري أن نضع أفكارنا في النشرة.
الشرح (Rules):
- We use should when you think something is the right thing to do.
نستخدم should عندما نعتقد أن شيئًا ما هو الشيء الصحيح لنفعله. - We use need to and must when it is necessary to do something.
نستخدم need to و must عندما يكون من الضروري القيام بشيء ما. - We use needn’t when it is not necessary to do something.
نستخدم needn’t عندما لا يكون من الضروري القيام بشيء ما. - We use mustn’t when it is necessary not to do something.
نستخدم mustn’t عندما يكون من الضروري عدم القيام بشيء ما.

1. Mohammed is talking to his mother. What must he recycle?
Mohammed: Can I sort out the recycling to take to the bins? Should I take this plastic water bottle?
Mum: No, I want to keep that. I can use it again for your sister’s project, so leave it by the sink.
Mohammed: What about this glass bottle?
Mum: Yes, that should go. But don’t take my newspaper. I haven’t finished it yet!
Mohammed: OK.
2. Zaid is talking to his father. What should he do to save energy?
Zaid: Our school is taking part in a competition to save energy. We must do something at home to help the planet, too.
Dad: OK, what do you want to do?
Zaid: We should plant a tree!
Dad: Hmm, that’s a bit difficult. We don’t have a garden – where are you going to plant it?
Zaid: Hmm, good point. Can we do something to save water then?
Dad: Well, we already have quick showers instead of long showers. And we always turn the water off when we brush our teeth. I know! We should walk to school instead of taking the car. We can walk as our school isn’t far.
Zaid: Yes, let’s do that! It will help to stop pollution and it’s good fun!
